About the Artist

Cassandra Wedeking was born and grew up in Evansville, Indiana, where she watched a bad dub of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind at eight. The film’s strange-yet-plausible creatures, alien environments, and breathtaking aerial action planted a seed. Several years later, when she found a bottom shelf in her local bookstore filled with graphic novels that read right to left, that seed was watered and began to grow. Cassandra fell in love with manga and comics almost instantly, but slowly began to realize that she would not only be a reader, but must someday create her own.

She studied Sequential Art at the Savannah College of Art and Design from 2005 to 2008, graduating Summa cum Laude, with a Bachelor’s in Fine Art.

Post-graduation, she’s lived in a variety of cities across America. Her travels have taken her from the Savannah to Burbank to Baltimore, and back south to Charleston, SC, where she enjoys the balmy weather and gorgeous beaches.

Cassandra has worked in many aspects of sequential storytelling– she’s drawn talksprites for an unproduced visual novel, inked a pay-to-read online serial, storyboarded explanatory videos, lettered a science fiction graphic novel published by Macmillan, developed environments for an educational game, and drawn over 400 pages of comics. Her comics work can be seen at evildivacomics.com, magickchicks.com, and dangerouslychloe.com.
