Education

Cassandra Wedeking has studied visual art and related topics at a variety of institutions.

She graduated from Signature School in Evansville, Indiana in 2003, with every art class on offer under her belt before continuing to the University of Southern Indiana. There, she attained a foundation in studio art that served her well in her years at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Cassandra attended SCAD from 2005 to 2008, graduating Summa cum Laude in August. Her degree is in Fine Art with a specialty in Sequential Art–the study of visual storytelling, which encompasses comics, editorial illustration, story-boarding, and children’s books. During her time at SCAD, her short comic, “Do You Have the Time?” was printed in the Sequential Department’s “Found” anthology. She participated in a two-week study abroad program in Tokyo in the winter of 2007, where she attended seminars taught by the likes of Kazu Kibuishi, Amy Kim Gather, Clio Chiang, Phil Craven, and Hiroki Mafuyu. During her senior year, she acted as secretary of SCAD’s student-run girls’ comics anthology, “Shoujo Phonebook.”

Post-graduation, Cassandra continued to further her education with classes in life drawing at the American Animation Institue, in Burbank, CA.

Today, Cassandra has branched out, and is studying programming at Trident Technical College in North Charleston, South Carolina. She hopes to add website design and coding for games to her skillset.
